If you don’t mind me asking, where were you going when my secretary and I saw you going out the door last Friday at 3:00pm?
My secretary and I saw you going out the door at 3:00pm last Friday. Do you mind if I ask where you were going?
Vic: There's a pronoun error in the first entry; for that reason the second one is better.
If you don't mind me asking, where were you going at 3:00 p.m. last Friday?
Last Friday we saw you leave at 3:00 p.m. If you don't mind me asking, where were you going?
Michelle: Both are good suggestions, but you also have the same pronoun error in both versions.
