Katine: #1--awkward grammatically (verb tense with "since"); #2--OK--but I think there are more than several athletes;-) #3--good.

Richard: #1 is a clause, not a phrase #2 is good; #3 the clause is good, but use "Canadian athletes have some medals to bring back to the country."
