My mother and I celebrate Louis Riel day with a festive party.
Tammy: Good change.
A theme party for Louis Riel Day would probably be best celebrated by spending the day at The Festival Du Voyageur in Winnipeg - a two week winter festival. And I suppose one could get dressed up in traditional fur trader clothing, have maple syrup snow, and hot chocolate and skate the paths on the river.
Thanks, Margaret. This seems to be specific to the area around the original Red River settlement. When you mentioned Riel, my mind went to a picture in a textbook I once had--he had a noose around his neck!
