Margaret: You have added what looks like a mix between a dependent and an independent clause--use either "and" or "while". Also note that you need to write three separate sentences; one a phrase, the second a dependent clause, and the third an independent clause;-)

1. This year, St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, falls on a Tuesday, this may lesson alcohol consumption.

2. It will be difficult to celebrate St. Patrick's Day as this year, St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, falls on a Tuesday, unlike my birthday, March 8th, which thankfully fell on a Sunday.

3. This year, St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, falls on a Tuesday; St. Patrick's Day is also my best friends birthday.
